Since its emergence, now more than twenty years, the social project of Sustainable development is becoming institutionalized in France, especially in the context of prioritization of the environment. Fair trade, institutionally defined as contributing to
Sustainable development, while renewing its paradigm and seems to be at turning point in its social building, that of a "sustainable trade". The integration of this new framework would offer fair trade organizations such opportunities in terms of environmental strategies and practices. However, this evolution also displays them in surrounding ecological skepticism and clearly questions the effectiveness of their original anthropocentric logic, that of having as focus the marginalized producers in the South.
