Héritages et usages de la théorie de la justice de J. Rawls cinquante ans après: qu’en est-il en matière d’environnement et de genre en Afrique subsaharienne francophone?

This article is an introduction to this special issue of the journal “Economic Ethics and Common Goods”, devoted to the legacies and uses of John Rawls' theory of justice as equity, fifty years after its publication. It traces forms of heritage by situating them in singular environmental and gender uses in different national contexts in French-speaking sub-Saharan Africa. He organizes them into three categories of ten inheritance. This provides an analytical framework for reading specific situations of development sustainability in Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal and Cameroon. In doing so, justice as equality of capabilities of A. Sen, becomes the analytical perspective closest to lived social realities; beyond the normative approach of J. Rawls.
